Town of Walpole, Walpole, NH 03608
PLANNING BOARD MEETING
Work Session
Tuesday, March 24, 2008–7:00pm
Town Hall Basement
MINUTES
Present: Jeff Miller, Bob Miller, Ben Daviss, Mel Schupack, Dennis Marcom (7:30)
Recording: Pam Aslinger, Sec.
Meeting opened at 7:05pm.
Purpose of the meeting was to review a draft of the Master Plan Land Use Section Goals and Objectives and Vision Statement.
Each attendee reviewed a copy of the Master Plan’s current land use section and the most recent draft of the goals and objectives based on the results of the survey, drafted by Mr. Daviss with Mr. Schupack’s help (copy attached). There was discussion about whether SWRPC was needed for this initial drafting especially since they are short staffed for a few more weeks. All agreed to forgo SWRPC input during this phase since Mr. Daviss and Mr. Schupack had so closely scrutinized the survey data. It was felt combined input from the MP committee; PB and public would create a Walpole reflective list of goals and objectives for SWRPC’s comment.
Attendees closely compared each new goal with the current goals contributing thoughtful comments, corrections, additions and revisions where needed. Discussion amongst the attendees reflected a range of possible ideas to protect Walpole’s land while promoting some guided development without sacrificing Walpole’s character. Current State initiatives and mandates were also discussed.
Mr. Daviss kept track of the individual changes in order to create a re-draft to present to the Planning Board at the April 8, 2008 meeting. It was decided to send a copy of the final draft to SWRPC once the Planning Board has made its review - possibly prior to the Public Hearing scheduled tentatively for May 13, 2008, but certainly before any final adoption.
Mr. Schupack and Mr. Daviss will begin working on a draft vision statement to be discussed at the April 22. 2008 work session meeting.
Meeting ended at 8:35pm.
