WELCOME TO THE
WALPOLE PLANNING BOARD ONLINE

Walpole’s planning board reviews proposals for residential subdivisions, commercial and industrial building projects, individual lot-line adjustments, and requests for special exceptions to zoning limitations.  The board also proposes or reviews suggested changes to Walpole’s zoning ordinances that are to be voted upon by the town.  In addition, the board guides Walpole’s ongoing discussion of zoning and land use and periodically reviews and updates the town’s master plan.

On this site, you’ll find:

– the agenda of our next meeting and minutes from past meetings;
– Walpole’s zoning and land-use ordinances and any proposals for changes to them;
– how to bring proposals and other business to the board;
– the town’s zoning and site plan review regulations;
– Walpole’s master plan;
– links to other key Walpole websites.

You also can take part in the town’s ongoing discussion about Walpole’s future by clicking the “Citizen Input” button above.

Currently, the planning board is reviewing the land-use section of the town’s master plan and the board needs your comments.  On the discussion page under “Citizen Input”, you’ll find a list of questions asking what you envision Walpole to be like in 20 years.  What does our town have that you definitely want to see preserved?  What does the town not have that it needs?  What does Walpole have that it shouldn’t?  Do we need to set aside more space for industrial development?  What kinds of residential building projects should the town permit?  What kinds of stores and services do we want in our commercial district along Route 12?

From your answers to these and other questions, the board and a group of volunteers will draft a vision statement about the Walpole of 2027.  This statement will shape a list of goals and objectives for Walpole’s future land use.  Those goals and objectives will be the basis for revising Walpole’s zoning regulations to ensure that the vision of Walpole that we have created together becomes a reality.

The board meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month in the town hall.

The public is welcome and
encouraged to attend.
